Loans box development

Loans boxes on the themes of the First and Second World Wars and Remembrance are being developed. These will be available to hire and will support class work at a time when many schools are unable to physically visit the museum.  The boxes contain both real and replica objects ranging from a hand decorated trench art vase made from an artillery shell which is over 100 years old to a 1940s replica football!  Boxes will highlight the experiences of soldiers and how they were remembered back on the Homefront. Imperial War Museum Connecting, Sharing, Learning reminiscence project

We’ve been working with the Imperial War Museum and The Archives and Cornish Studies Service: Kresen Kernow on a project entitled Connecting, sharing, learning: sustaining relationships between collections and older communities during the COVID-19 pandemic’.  This explored ways museums could share their Second World War collections digitally while engaging with older people who may face difficulties visiting cultural venues.  Packs including DVD’s and an activity booklet exploring themes such as wartime fashion and the Battle of Britain were posted to over forty local care settings.

If you are interested in receiving a pack please contact leah.mason@bodminkeep.org.uk
